Hours Per Week: 24-32 (TBD) (.6 to .8 FTE)

Since 1999, the Women’s Community Clinic has used a volunteer-based model of care to create a safe, welcoming environment where Bay Area women can access health services. We honor our mission to improve the health and well-being of women and girls by providing free: health services, outreach services, and health training programs.
Job Description:
As the Women’s Community Clinic continues its successful capital campaign and prepares to move into a new, larger location, this is an exciting time to join the Clinic’s Development Department. The Clinic uses diverse funding strategies that incorporate collaboration with clients, volunteers, staff, and community members. The Development Associate will play a vital role in capital campaign fundraising as well as general fundraising to support our services and programs. The Development Associate is responsible for grant writing, reporting, and pipeline management for the Clinic’s ongoing foundation, corporate, and government funding streams. The Development Associate will have the opportunity to increase their understanding of non-profit fundraising operations and strategies and will gain experience in grant writing and grants management. Job Responsibilities include:
Grant Writing and Management
- In conjunction with the Development & Communications Director, plan and implement key components of the Clinic’s grants program
- Maintain the Clinic’s grants database (Salesforce CRM) and manage grants calendar and pipeline process (e.g. deadline tracking, forecasting, etc.)
- Collaborate with program directors and other senior staff to create compelling grant proposals and ensure timely submission of grant applications and reports
- Provide regular status reports to the Development & Communications Director on the performance of the grants program
- Manage portfolios of foundations and help to develop strategies for cultivation and solicitation
- Conduct targeted research to identify new foundation and corporate funders
Donor and Database Management
- Manage donor database, including data entry, updating, cleaning and utilization of database (Salesforce CRM)
- Coordinate donation processing and acknowledgements
- Compile donor packets and materials
General Support
- Provide administrative and advanced support to the Development & Communications Director
- Assist in supervision of development interns and volunteers
- Assist in coordination of mailings for direct appeals, events, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent
- Minimum two years professional experience in nonprofit development field highly preferred
- Experience with proposal writing and grants management
- Demonstrated success in securing gifts from foundations and corporations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and ability to perform mail merges, independently compose donor letters and email communications
- Experience with prospect research for foundations and individuals
- Proofreading skills and high attention to detail
- Experience with setting up systems and workflows
- Database experience, preferably Salesforce CRM
- Position involves lifting, carrying, and walking up stairs
