SAN FRANCISCO – The Examiner celebrates those who made a difference for others in 2008

What she does: The Women’s Community Clinic is an organization that provides services to low-income women so they can receive much-needed health care, such as annual gynecological exams, from a team of volunteer clinicians. What drew Pena to the organization is her aspiration to become a doctor, and the organization’s diligent outreach work. Volunteers go to the Mission district and hand out various supplies to women, such as contraceptives and nutritional items.
