Alexis Lockman, Development and Communications Intern
Alexis Lockman has been involved with the Women’s Community Clinic since 2007 where she began as a Client Service Coordinator after asking a co-worker about a uterus pin she wore on her sweatshirt. She also puts on the yearly fundraiser “VAGTASTIC!” benefiting the Clinic, which includes a vaudeville evening promoting safe sex. Alexis is committed to sexual education and dialogue, especially within her Latino community where faith and tradition often stand in the way of sexual education. As the eldest of four girls and one boy, she is adament about breaking down the taboo subject of sex and teenagers, and replacing it with competent education, information and accessible resources for the protection of youth, their bodies and their minds. Alexis holds a B.A. in Political Science from SFSU and will be pursuing a Masters in Public Health in the fall of 2010.
