Carlina Hansen, Executive Director

Carlina has been the Executive Director of the Women’s Community Clinic for 10 years. She started at the Clinic as a Health Education Volunteer while working as a Senior Project Coordinator at the Tides Center, a local non profit incubator and fiscal sponsor. Carlina has worked in the non-profit sector in San Francisco for 14 years. She has been a volunteer at San Francisco General Hospital, Maitri (a San Francisco AIDS hospice), Healing Waters (which provides outdoor adventure opportunities for people with HIV/AIDS) and is on the Advisory Board of Garden for the Environment, where she completed a Master Gardener and Educator Training Program. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Health Advisory Committee of the Department of Public Health, on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Working Group on Universal Health Care. In 2007, Carlina was named Young Non Profit Professional’s Network (YNPN) Young Non Profit Executive Director of the Year. She is a graduate of the Women’s Foundation of California’s Women’s Policy Institute, of CompassPoint’s Executive Leadership Circles. She graduated in 2009 from the inaugural class of the Clinic Leadership Institute (CLI), a project of the Blue Shield of California Foundation and UCSF’s Center for the Health Professions and now serves as Co-Chair of the CLI Alumni Committee. Carlina was recently appointed to the California Breast Cancer Research Program Advisory Council which advises on grants for breast cancer research in the State of California. Since 1994, the CBCRP has awarded over $205 million in 860 grants to 98 institutions across the state with the mission to eliminate breast cancer by leading innovation in research, communication, and collaboration in the California scientific and lay communities.
